Romulus Folio is proud to present Whispers of the Grove, opening 12 September – 28 September 2025 at The Gladstone, South Melbourne. This exhibition invites audiences into a quiet, contemplative space where art becomes a language for listening, to nature, to memory, and to the subtle threads that connect us.
An Invitation to Listen
Whispers of the Grove is a gathering of voices, a shared act of listening. Together, these works ask us to attune to what is often overlooked: the murmur of leaves, the renewal within decay, the small, persistent gestures that keep us connected to land, community, and one another.
Artists include:
Angelina Mirabito
Through palette knife and texture, Angelina Mirabito explores the emotional terrain where human experience meets elemental forces. Her works are deeply textured, atmospheric, and gestural, visual poems that speak of stillness, rupture, and renewal. In this exhibition, her paintings form the grounding landscape: a grove of colour and texture where viewers can pause and enter into dialogue with their own interior landscapes.
Maria Simonelli
Maria Simonelli’s sculptural practice transforms reclaimed and organic materials into vessels of memory and regeneration. Branches, antique textiles, and discarded objects find new resonance in her hands. In this exhibition, her pieces of wood and light echo the rhythms of the natural world, reminding us that nothing is ever truly lost that beauty can be recovered, reimagined, and whispered back into being.
Scott Ross
Scott Ross contributes a video installation that threads through the exhibition like a stream of light and movement. Projected imagery and shifting rhythms invite viewers to linger in the space between stillness and change, presence and transformation, extending the grove into time and sounds within the silence.
As always we’re delighted to include selected works from workshop participants in this exhibition.
