Exploring Melbourne’s Contemporary Art Scene with International Students
I’m thrilled to be leading the Artistic Impressions: A Guided Art Tour through LeGrange Galleryon Saturday, 18 October 2025, from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. This free tour for international students, and it also offers anyone interested in Melbourne’s vibrant contemporary art scene the chance to engage deeply with local galleries and current exhibitions.
As a practicing artist actively involved in Melbourne’s arts community, I’ll guide participants through four of Brunswick’s dynamic galleries, Hillvale Gallery, Unassigned Gallery, Counihan Gallery, and Neon Parc, sharing insights into the artistic processes, curatorial decisions, and creative narratives behind each exhibition. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, reflect on the work, and see contemporary art from the perspective of an artist who has experience running a gallery.
Highlights include:
Hillvale Gallery – Hillvale Photo Trophy 2025, showcasing a diverse range of photographic works from across Australia.
Unassigned Gallery – Uncle Grimbles Snack Shack, an engaging exhibition exploring community, memory, and everyday experience through experimental painting.
Counihan Gallery – heavy body history: Merri-bek Collection and Recent Works, confronting colonial histories while amplifying voices from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Neon Parc – Dale Frank’s Come on cuz, better luck next time, a visually striking, conceptually rich exhibition that pushes creative boundaries.
This tour is interactive and immersive, designed to be informative, engaging, and accessible. Whether you are a student discovering contemporary art for the first time, or an art professional interested in Melbourne’s gallery landscape, the experience offers insight into artistic practice, exhibition design, and emerging trends.
Spaces are limited. Register now for this free event and join me for a hands-on, behind-the-scenes exploration of Melbourne’s contemporary art scene: Event Registration.
I look forward to welcoming you and sharing the rich creativity of Brunswick’s galleries.
