“Tides & Transformation: A Personal Reflection”
Tides & Transformation is an exhibition inspired by the my residency at The Gladstone in Fishermans Bend—a place rich with industrial history, erosion, and renewal. This landscape, ever-changing and layered, became both my canvas and my muse.
In creating these works, I was drawn to materials that bore the marks of time and use. Repurposed shipping pallets became the foundation for some pieces, their textures and imperfections telling stories of their own. In other works, I painted over old canvases, allowing glimpses of the previous layers and their story to emerge, creating a dialogue between past and present.
This process of layering and repurposing mirrors the very essence of Fishermans Bend—a place where history isn’t erased but built upon. It’s a testament to the beauty of transformation and the resilience found in adaptation.
The exhibition also features a light installation and video art by Samuel Galloway, capturing the interplay of light, space, and memory. Additionally, pieces created during community workshops with local residents are on display, emphasising the collective spirit of transformation.
